《佛陀》Buddha 原畫
生於1928年的「漫畫之神」手塚治虫自「棄醫從畫」後作品無數，據統計其一生有份創作及改編的漫畫作品達450部以上。《佛陀》是大師於1972年至1983年間連載的作品，曾勇奪美國「Will Eisner Comic Industry Award」獎，作品內容講述了佛祖釋迦牟尼一生悲劇而傳奇的遭遇，屬於手塚治虫偏向成人主題風格的作品。
今次的動畫電影化將以三部曲形式推出，第一部預定明年5月28日全日本公映。是次製作號稱耗資10億日圓(僅第一部)，得到了日本文化振興費補助金的資助，請來吉永小百合、水樹奈奈、堺雅人及竹內順子等日本知名藝人負責配音，森下孝三執導，編劇為吉田玲子。
